The narrative

The home dubbed 'the cork house' is where Richard and his wife Kristina a Makeup artist reside with their dog, Baloo.

Richard and Kristina have both lived in London since they finished their university courses at Canterbury School of Architecture and UCA (University for the Creative Arts). From Peckham to Camberwell, Hackney to Homerton they have now found a base in Forest Gate, a small creative area in Newham just east of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

When they moved in December 2015 the area had a large housing stock of HMO's (houses of multiple occupancy). Richard and Kristina were well timed enough to find a run down, 1890's victorian terraced house with the garden set aside for their studio project called 'the light shed'. Along with this, they extended and renovated the existing house 'the cork house' into a base for the current life style.

Today 'the cork house' is an important social hub for their fiends, family and extended local community, hosting countless soirées throughout the year. As Richard, Kristina, Baloo and their home have become embedded in their local community they are always open to meeting new residents and sharing their story.

Feel free to pay us, the studio or the dog a visit; our door is always open.
