The narrative

Richard is the Owner and Director of Richard John Andrews Ltd. establishing his architecture and design studio in 2017. This came about organically after completing a self-build project of his own home 'the cork house' as well as a design collaboration along side an internationally renowned artist, Conrad Shawcross RA.

Having studied architecture at the respected Canterbury School of Architecture, Richard acquired both RIBA part I and RIBA part II qualifications. Richard achieved a first class with honours at RIBA part II and was also nominated for the RIBA Silver President's Medal for his thesis work which was later published within the highly acclaimed Evolo Skyscrapers 2 portfolio book.

Richard has worked for a number of award winning architectural firms including Foster + Partners, Michaelis Boyd Associates & DOS Architects helping to design numerous projects ranging from large scale commerce buildings to domestic residences.

Since venturing out alone Richard strives to develop a more holistic, sustainable and flexible approach to architectural  practice. This has culminated in collaborations with artists, designers and emerging design talent which continues to challenge and broaden his understanding of the industry he loves and plans on helping to better.

Whilst Richard has always been drawn toward architecture, his creative process has been informed by interests in fashion, furniture and spatial design from an early age. This is only solidified by his wife Kristina practicing as a makeup artist, who operates within the fashion, photography and beauty industries.

Richard's balanced approach to his work and personal life is reflected in his professional relationships resulting in a real passion and respect for understanding his diverse clientele. Focusing on their needs, he provides a highly bespoke, tailored and long lasting service with a very personal touch. This is the driving force behind him starting his own journey of establishing a studio to design, collaborate and create exciting projects.
